About Me Hi, I am a walking oxymoron...I am a wife a lover a mom and a state corrections officer, but I still often feel like a little kid inside. I carry myself with confidence but seldom feel it. I see myself as tall buxom and sexy as hell, but when I pass the mirror I am sad to find I am short, squat and dowdy but I guess the outside is just wrapping paper for the gift that lies within. I have two beautiful daughters who are everything I ever wanted to be, and I will make sure that they have joy in their lives and that they know that they are loved.
Music I was raised on opera and classical music, and still love both, but I have a great affinity for anything passionate, from children's songs to the darkest heavy metal. Passion and music in my opinion go hand in hand, and in this society are seldom found together. I am inspired by Enya, Abba, Danzig, Queen, Metallica, Ronnie James Dio, and anyone else who expresses their passion in their music.
Movies I was a cookie cutter movie fanatic and then I woke up. My first experience in waking up was watching The Matrix. To know that we are all born as slaves but we have the choice to free ourselves was and is the most liberating information and the most shocking. Anything by M. Night Shamalyn (Particularly Lady in the Water) will jar you from your sleep, if you pay attention. I enjoy movies that make me think deeply. I enjoy movies that free me from my mundane life.
TV LOST probably one of the greatest television shows of all time. House, I wish I had a Doctor like House, but then I'd have to kill him and put his body in the freezer. CSI see now I would know how to hide the evidence. Law and Order SVU and CI, crime and law intrigue me.
Books I dont read romances often, but when I do I prefer Virginia Henley, an historical romance writer. The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, Dance of the Dissident Daughter by Sue Monk Kidd, The Gospel of Mary Magdalene and anything dealing with the Goddess energies and God energies and how they intertwine.
Likes Makeup...I love makeup...its my favorite. I can take a dowdy frumpy woman and turn her into a babe. I can take a clean face and make a monster. I love makeup effects. I love snuggling with my husband (and other things that I cannot list here because of their x rated nature) I like Ren Faires and the freedom to be ones self that they offer.
Dislikes Me in a hormonal rage - Bad drivers - whiny people - I really hate fast food...but I eat it anyways because its easy...
Hobbies Tabletop RPG - Ren Faires - Breathing - Going to the gym trying to better my body - Eating really good food, thats why I gotta go to the gym.
Vices Two cigarettes a day (Yes you read that right...just two) - Chocolate (Dagoba Dark Chocolate) - Sex (with my husband, often until he cant move and is begging for mercy)
Virtues I am a good mother (Trying my best) and a wonderful wife (can you tell my husband is writing this)A good role model to young women, especially concerning feminine spirituality.
Heroes My husband, who in his own wonderful way has taught me confidence - Eve cause she was brave enough to eat the fruit and get things moving - Jesus, and the women who followed him, Mary Magdalene in specific, Mother Nature, the creative, nurturing energy of the universe...and last but not least my mom and my brother, anyone willing to put up with my bullshit has got to be a strong person.

    Alternative dress...

Tuesday, February 12, 2008, 12:32 AM CST [General]

Okay, So I decided I was going to dress as a fae, but then decided against it as my mom is going as an old wisened fae, so I didn't want to step on her toes.....So I decided I am going as a Sylph....Kinda fae like, but without the wongs, and with horns, but cute little curly Q horns, not like big "eat your head" horns....So I am wearing all red and black and matching and mixing patterns and reds to get just the right mischevious look and let me tell you, it's hard work....I am making my own hair accessories and jewelry, accept earrings which I have to get at Starlit Skies (little plug)....

My hubby, Eric, is also going as a horned beast, a semi-deamon, a half devil, whatever you want to call it and I like the idea that we are going as the "horny couple".....He'll be the one on the leash and I'll be the one running all over the place...Can't wait, and I'm so excited...I love the alternative dress, but any good ideas on what NOT to do?

    Where to stay....

Monday, February 11, 2008, 01:43 AM CST [General]

So here we are gearing up for the upcoming renfaire season at Scarborough and I can't wait...We have new garb pieces, weekends selected, time off from work, and now the dreaded "where to stay" is upon us....I don't mind hotels, but I have the hardest time finding the right one for my brood, which will be about 20 people on one weekend alone....Any suggestions on good hotels in the Waxahachie area for that many people? KOA's? backyards, empty swimming pools? I know, I get frazzled and I dread the hotel reservation process and the fear of not having what we need at the price we need...

Anyway, aside from this one thing that brings me to the point of pulling my hair out, my whole brood is so excited....My little ones are just about to fly from the sheer joy and thrill of going back to Scarborough and seeing the sights, meeting the people, eating the food, and experiencing something that most of their friends could only dream about....My 4 year old and 7 year old, both girls, are so excited about seeing Twig the faerie and Noobler the tinker gnome again....My sons, both teens, are looking forward to the joust, trying to make Sholo the Nubian smile and, they won't admit it, but the "babes"....And for all of us adults, just the experience of being with a larger more extended family that accepts us for who we are....

Personally, I think everyone should experience renfaire at leat once in their lives so they can say that they experienced life in someone elses shoes in a different time....

    Blessings!!!!
